Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids

A show for today's kids with its unique urban appeal. With his friends, the Cosby kids, the series follows the adventure of this group of resourceful and unpredictable adolescents as they grow up in an Urban American neighbourhood in the 1970's. Bill Cosby, one of America's most beloved and popular international stars, created the show based on his own childhood experiences growing up in Philadelphia. Live action segments featuring Bill Cosby himself give narrative support to the storylines and bridge the animation throughout the show.

Join Fat Albert, Weird Harold, Rudy, Dumb Donald, Bill, Russell, Bucky and Mushmouth as they share valuable childhood experiences against a backdrop of friendship and loyalty. Ground-breaking in it's concept, this show was originally written with a team of child educational and psychological advisors ensure that everyday situations were tackled. Today, these same issues are relevant to a new generation; safety, responsibility, conflicts, family, prejudice and school.

One of the longest running Saturday morning cartoons in the history of the US and a consistent ratings winner, the show ran on CBS TV for 12 consecutive years from 1972 to 1984 and was re-syndicated in 1989.

Filmation Associates, Bill Cosby Productions 1972

Spotted! In the episode "Creativity", Rudy's voice comes out of Bill ("what 'choo talkin' about?") with Rudy even standing right next to Bill.

Spotted! In the episode "Playing Hookey", Dumb Donald refuses to play hooky with the gang and goes to school. However, as the gang plays hookey, in one scene Dumb Donald is seen skateboarding with the gang and in another, when they are going to use their homemade box-slide ride, he is seen in the box waiting for the ride.
